Great Oaks Employer Coffee Mornings!!!
Great Oaks Employer Coffee Mornings!!!
It was great to be a part of the Great Oaks School and College team for the first student, "Great Oaks Employer Coffee Mornings" on the 22nd of November at the college location on Southampton City Farm. We were welcomed by the staff members to discuss the present gaps in the neurodiverse student community and to create development plans for the future. I attended the event from Time research & innovation to offer our product and services.
We talked about the wonderful model of work being done at the college in collaboration with Compass Group to support the development of the students' general employability and catering abilities. The young people provided us with tea, coffee, brownies, and cookies by using their incredible skills.
We have discussed removing obstacles to people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who can have meaningful employment experiences. We also discussed setting up on-site employer seminars before work experience at the institution or college before entering the workforce. This would offer young people a fantastic opportunity to connect with them in a comfortable setting. Additionally, it would offer the employers hosting the placements useful skills, knowledge, and resources with the overarching goal of creating great experiences for everyone.
In order to ensure that young people are exposed to a variety of businesses, workplaces, further education institutions, and training providers, we talked about the need to diversify such exposures.
Thank you to everyone who joined this meeting and especially Larni Harris, for taking the photos and the Oaks for the wonderful hospitality, also Amanda Burdfield, Paul Downing, Peter Cousins, Annemarie Wright, Emily Williams, Tony Parkes, Southampton City Council, Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Naomi Smy, James Ford, Darren Coventry MCIPS, Ali Phillips, Beth Bray, and Sajid Butt FRSA.
